Things You Should Know

Making yourself at home

Boats

Rowboats are available for guest use; all passengers must sign a release before use and total weight should not exceed 700 pounds. Oars, life jackets, and seat cushions may be borrowed from outside the office. At least one throwable flotation device and one life jacket per person are required on each boat. Children under 12 must wear a life jacket. Boats may not be used after dark.

Campfires

We are permitted for a weekly campfire (weather and conditions permitting) during the summer months. Campfires must be staff-supervised and held only in the waterfront firepit.

Fireplaces

Cottage fireplaces are limited to Duraflame logs, available for purchase at the office. Ashes must be disposed of in your cottage's designated ash bucket, placed along the driveway edge when cooling — never kept inside or on the porch with hot ashes.

Grilling

Grills may be used outside your cottage but are not allowed on porches. Dispose of ashes in the designated ash bucket as above.

Parking

Complimentary parking is available, limited to two vehicles per cottage. Please park behind and parallel to your cottage. The area between cottages 8 and 9 is a designated turnaround; ask about space for boat trailers.

Quiet Hours

Noise audible outside your cottage — including music or loud conversation — is prohibited between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Recreation Area

The tennis court and recreation area are for tennis, pickleball, table tennis, and basketball only. Pickleball hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. No bicycles, skateboards, or rollerblades. Only white-soled, non-marking sneakers are allowed on the tennis court. Children under 12 require adult supervision.

Swimming

There is no lifeguard on our waterfront. Parents are responsible for their children's safety at all times. Mountain Lake Cottages assumes no responsibility for swimming or boating accidents.

Garbage & Recycling

When your trash bag is full, let us know and we'll pick it up, or bring it to the office for a fresh bag. Please don't leave trash or food on porches. Recycling barrels for glass, plastic, metal, paper, and cardboard are on the upper and lower levels.

Ice & Library

Help yourself to bagged ice from the freezer chest outside the office (honor-system payment box on the wall). The office also holds an extensive take-a-book / leave-a-book library, plus puzzles and games.

Safety

For emergencies, dial 911. A first-aid kit is available in the office for minor injuries.
